A warm welcome to both sets of supporters for the return fixture of a game that took place less than four weeks ago! Just 53 Alex fans made the trip to South Wales on a cold January Tuesday night, I’m sure there’ll be more than 53 in the away end today, as for the home end?
Praise…
Recent results, and frankly, poor performances has seen the home support dwindle, but those of us who are here today have a responsibility to get behind the team. Swans may have given us a football lesson at The Liberty Stadium, but come 3.00pm today, it’s a different game, 11 v 11, and one of the reasons we all love the beautiful game is that anything invariably can and does happen. So they’re top of the table, 10 points clear, so what, we’re Crewe Alex! Come on you reds!
…and Grumble
If you must moan, save it for the post-match ‘phone in on Radio Stoke. Even better, make your feelings known at the forthcoming AGM and open forum, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday 28th February in the Carlsberg Lounge. Kick-off is 7-30pm. If you can’t make it, or if you’re not the type to stand up in public forum, but want your views to be heard, let Crewe ASi know. We’re far from shy, and will ensure your concerns are raised. Contact us via the usual channels - Tel/text : 07948 531652 or e-mail info@creweasi.org.uk

United - In remembrance!
50 years ago this weekend the world of football was struck numb by the tragic events which had taken place just a few days previously, when British European Airways Flight 609 crashed on its third attempt to takeoff from a slush-covered runway at the Munich-Riem airport in Munich, West Germany.
Richard Kirkham recalls the fateful day, “I was 18 years old at the time and probably more impressionable than the average 18 year old of to-day. Although I was not a Manchester United supporter, I can remember well the feeling of desolation as the news of the actual disaster filtered through, followed by hourly, then daily bulletins about the dead and injured. As well as the team, officials, supporters and everybody connected with Manchester United, the whole of world football rightly mourned the deaths and suffered a sadness that the tragedy brought.”
A sadness which has touched a whole new generation this week. Also highlighted this week has been the courage and bravery of then United goalkeeper, and future Manager of both Swansea and Crewe Alex, Harry Gregg. Harry has always been a reticent hero, but can any of us say we’d have done the same? Harry we salute you! Duncan Edwards, and all who perished with you. We remember you.
