Penalties decided this year's Crewe ASi Footy Tournament which took place at The Peacock, Crewe Road, Nantwich on Sunday, 19th August 2007. Alton All-Stars prevailed over FC Real 4-2, after the sides finished deadlocked at 0-0 in normal time. The winners are pictured receiving their trophy (kindly donated by Concorde Trophies) from Peacock landlord Gary, at the end of a wet, but wonderful day.
Despite the attrotious conditions, 13 teams took to the field, competing in a group stage, before progressing to quarters, semis and the grand final.
The weather played havoc with our plans for a "family fun day! It was too cold for ice cream, the bouncy castle became a paddling pool, and the beer tent became a players shelter! Our caterers were undaunted though, Glenys and Emma braved the wind and rain to provide burgers and hot-dogs to hungry players and fans alike. A big thank you and well-done to both ladies.
It was somewhat ironic that when we drew the curtains this morning the sun was shining.
What a difference a day makes! Normal service will be resumed next year and we look forward to seeing you there...
Additional pictures will be published in the Gallery in the next few days.
