2007 Christmas Party

Well Christmas seems so far away already but what memories do you have of those oh so long ago days?   Well for lots of kids hopefully they will recall the annual Crewe ASi Kiddies party.

Lots of hard work had been done before the day and the preparation paid off as we had another successful day.  The party was kicked off by Gresty leading the kids on to the dance floor for a number of party dances.  Very soon after a number of the players arrived namely,  Danny Woodards, Owain fon Williams, Neil Cox, Nicky Maynard, Lee Barnard, and Michael O’Connor.

Unfortunately we didn’t get any of them showing us their nifty dancing skills but as party games time came around 4 of them were volunteered to assist in the ever popular game of “Corners.”  Dario and Steve H looked on in bemusement as the players looked unsure as to what to do in this game, but then again don’t they always at corners???  But seriously, sincere thanks to the players and management team who came along and spent time signing autographs and joining in whenever requested

Pass the parcel followed and then it was time for a bit of peace and quiet as the kiddies had 40 minutes of magical entertainment.  This gave the adults a chance of a bit of rest and relaxation also time to grab a pint or two.  Both kids and adults gaped in amazement as rabbits were produced from nowhere but the magician did admit to his own limitations and could not promise us promotion.  More party dances and then the big fellow in the red coat and white beard appeared who conga’d all the juniors to his little grotto where they received their goody bag.  At this stage half of those in attendance were shattered and longing for their beds.  However the kids still wanted to party, but following a few more party songs, and over two hours entertainment (when was the last time you said that after leaving Gresty Road??) the party was brought to a close.

The aim of this party was to ensure all those in attendance had a cracking time, and give all the young 'uns a chance to meet the players.

However, the current chosen charity for Crewe ASi is Hope House, who care for terminally ill children.  As part of this we held our raffle which raised lots of money – still being counted.  A list of winners and their prizes are listed at the end of this article.

Many thanks to all those who helped in the preparation of the event and to those who helped on the day.  In addition thanks to the following who kindly donated prizes for the raffle / goody bags
