2008 - Picnic in the sun!
The success of just about every event is weather dependent, as we found to our cost last year, but this year, the sun, and the crowds were out in style for Crewe ASi's Fourth Annual Charity Football Tournament & Family Fun Day, held this year at Wrenbury Sports & Social Club, on Sunday, 8th June.

2007 - Smiling in the rain!
Twenty teams registered to take part, and following a group stage, quarters, semis and a grand final, "Chelsea" were crowned the winners following a sudden-death penalty shoot-out. The match finishing all-square at 1-1. A full set of results (in spreadsheet format) can be downloaded here!
England take note! How to win a penalty shoot-out!
All the best tournaments have VIPs on hand to present the trophy and medals, and ours is no exception. The winning team received their prizes, including three cases of beer, from Crewe and Nantwich' Mayor, Brian Sylvester.
Bring them victorious!
Apart from the football, there was a keenly contested competition out on the grounds! Who could stay on the Rodeo Bull the longest? Well the answer was, Martin Jones, who managed an amazing 70 seconds. A whole 66 seconds more than the author! Even the kids bested me! Especially these three. How hard can it be?

A bit of bully!
Entertainment was provided by the stars to Crewe Live '08, sgt wolfbanger. The rising Indie band, who have made it through to the national final of a major music competition, with the chance to win a recording and management contract, took time out of their busy schedule to wow the crowds with a great acoustic session.

The other winners were our adopted charity, The Cheshire Academy of Integrated Sport and Arts. who featured in a special game between the group and knock-out stages of the tournament.

That winning feeling!
The Cheshire Academy is an award winning centre based on Macon Way, in Crewe. It was founded in March 1993 with the purpose of providing sporting opportunities for individuals with physical, sensory or learning disabilities where possible in an integrated environment. The Academy firmly believes in the principle of 'sport for all' and encourages participation at all levels. They cater for individuals with profound disabilities within their sports programme as well as providing the coaching and the opportunities for children with disabilities to reach World Championship standards in a range of sports.
A big thank you to everyone who made the day such a resounding success; Concorde Trophies, Ace Rubber Legs, Snugbury's Ice Cream, Pat and Debbie, sgt wolfbanger, the teams who took part, and the families who joined in the fun.
We'll be back!
