Summary of Crewe Alexandra Supporters’ Initiative
Committee Meeting held on Monday 8th February 2010 at The Borough
Arms, Earle Street, Crewe.
The meeting commenced at 19.50 with 9 committee members
present during the course of the meeting.
The usual business of proposing and seconding the minutes of
the previous committee meeting was duly noted and an Update on the Action
Points from the previous meeting was then discussed. The main items from this
were -
The
committee recognises that the website needs to be updated more frequently
than at present – usual problem though is having enough volunteers to be
able to devote time to updating and having sufficient content to have
meaningful updates
The
ASi Annual General Meeting – the financial accounts for the year ending 31st
July 2009 have been audited and finalised – the next committee meeting
will therefore be the AGM. Dave Coleman reminded the committee of his
intention to stand down as ASi Secretary at this meeting – nominations are
sought for somebody to assume this role
2010
Football Funday – arrangements are in place with Wrenbury Sports &
Social Club to hold our annual football tournament on Sunday 6th
June 2010
Lower
Bar Prices at CAFC – it has been noted that following the success of the
promotion of lower bar prices before the Port Vale home game this offer
has been extended to the end of the current football season. However it is
noted that the offer does not extend to half-time or after the match. The
Football Club advised the ASi in the latest liaison meeting that bar price
promotions are dependent upon support from the brewery suppliers
Meetings
with CAFC – 4 ASi committee members held a meeting with representatives of
the board of directors in January 2010 and a summary of the meeting
published on the ASi website
2009/10
End of Season Event – this was discussed as a separate agenda item – see
later
The ASi has received a letter from Edward Timpson, MP Crewe
& Nantwich apologising for his unavailability at the Children’s Christmas
Party. This led to a discussion on the forthcoming general election and whether
the ASi should canvass Crewe & Nantwich Candidates on their party’s views
regarding football and their own views regarding CAFC. The consensus was that
each candidate should be issued with the same pre-determined questions and
their replies (or otherwise) published on the website. Any questions to be
submitted to Dave Tomlinson, ASi Chairman.
Finance Report for the period ending 31 January 2010 shows
that the ASi has a current surplus of funds of approx £1,900, their followed a
discussion on what we could do to benefit supporters of CAFC – any suggestions
to be submitted to the ASi.
2009/10 End of Season Event- the date and venue has been
confirmed as 24th April 2010 in the Lounge under the main stand.
This year’s music act is a Take That Tribute Band and again there will be a
disco and 2-course meal. There will also be a game of ‘stand-up bingo’ on the
night – and the ASi wish to express their thanks to CAFC for donating a season
ticket for 2010/11 as the 1st prize. Ticket prices will be
£25/person and capacity will be 250 people. The organising committee are
currently in discussions with CAFC re attendance of players and management and
also re the possibility of a drinks promotion on the night.
Under ‘Any Other Business’ we again discussed the need to
bring on new members to the committee – anybody interested?
Also a reminder to supporters of the planned CAFC
Supporters’ Forum, the more who attend and raise critical questions re the
club’s performances – both playing wise and finance wise - the better.
