Lincoln's home for over a hundred years, Woolwich Arsenal were the visitors for the first Football League game which took place on 14 September 1895, Sincil Bank became an all-seater stadium at the start of the 1999/2000
season when the only remaining terracing - in the Stacey West stand -
was replaced by seats, meaning that the ground now has a capacity of
over 10,000 and is arguably one of the better stadiums in lower league football.
If driving, follow the
A46 into Lincoln
(which leads onto the High St)
and then turn right onto the A158 South Park Avenue, the ground is on your
left. If you arrive early then you can park in the car park behind the Stacey
West Stand (cost £4), otherwise, street parking.
By train, the station, Lincoln Central, is around a 15 minute walk from the ground. To get to
the ground on foot from Lincoln Central turn left and then left again at
the main road (High Street) going over the level crossing. Take the seventh
turning onto Scorer Street
and then the first right into Sincil Bank.The Bus station is around 100 yards from the Train Station and bus
numbers 1, 1D, 7, 7A, 13 and 14, among others, all run close to the
ground.Taxis from the railway station
cost approx £2.50.
Away
fans are housed in part of the Co-op Community Stand at one side of
the pitch. The normal allocations for away fans is 1,900 and this stand is
divided between home and away supporters. The facilities and view of
the pitch is good, and there is also a great range of food
available, includingthe delicious 'Football's
Famous Chicken Balti Pie', burgers, Lincolnshire sausage and bacon
rolls.
Opposition fans are welcome in the Supporters Club (called the
Trust Suite) situated behind the South Park Stand. They have a good range of beer and
Food available from 12 noon
and admission into the bar is free.
There are plenty of good pubs to be
found if you head along the High St towards the town centre. The
Golden Eagle on the High Street, which is listed in
the CAMRA Good Beer Guide comes recommended, and the
local Wetherspoon's 'The Ritz' serves reasonably priced food and
ales.
